About the Authors

MAD was created by Nicole Krol and Feddo Wouters. Nicole Krol was responsable for the knowledge-aquisition and all organisational aspects of the project, Feddo Wouters did the design and actual implementation of the system.

Nicole Krol

Nicole Krol was born november 28, 1957. In 1976 behaalde zij het Atheneum diploma aan het Theresia lyceum te Tilburg. Een jaar later begon zij met de studie pedagogiek aan de Katholieke Universiteit van Nijmegen.

Feddo Wouters

Feddo      Feddo Wouters was born on oktober 16, 1962. In 1981 he graduated from the Norbertus College in Roosendaal. Afther that, he got drafted for military service.

Between 1983 and 1989 he studied Psychology/Cognitive Science at the University of Nijmegen. He specialised in the combination of 'Human Interface Design/Decision Support'. His XstageX at Orthopedagogiek resulted in a thesis titled 'Van Vazen naar Verklaringen': a study of the usability of Bayesian hypothesis-evaluation in the field of psychodiagnostics.

From 1990 till 1992 he worked as a junior-researcher on the XTehuizenX-project at the vakgroep Orthopedagogiek. Beside doing the usuall research-chores, he also designed an interface for the longitudinal data-analysis-program TIDA.

Between 1990 and 1995 he also worked as a consultant/software-engineer for the language-training institute 'Eurolinguist'. In that period he designed multimedia language-exercises (EuroTalk) and an adaptive testing system for intake and graduation (EuroTest), and adapted and translated the Individual Learning Styles Test (MILS).

Right from the start in 1994 uptill now, he participated in the MAD-project. Anything you see onscreen (including this website), went through his hands.

In the spring of 1998 he designed and implemented DiagNosy: an experiment-shell for the domain of diagnostic reasoning and classification.
